This is Dennis. He along with wife Mai run Soon Soon Huat curry puff restaurant in Katong. We visit Dennis on our Katong evening food tour. The shop is famous island wide for their delicious curry puffs.
Mai’s grandmother came up with their secret recipe. It is a huge hit with everyone who comes along on our Katong food tours. The puff itself looks a bit like a snail’s shell. They do this by putting half the dough in water overnight and half left to dry. The different textures produce the overlapping effect. As a result, the curry puff is fluffy and light.
The tasty filling is a secret recipe which never fails to impress our guests.
The most popular curry puff flavour is chicken and potato. One of the other flavours we like to try on the food tour is the sardine puff. For those who are brave enough, you can also try a durian puff here.
One of the things we look for when designing our food tours is the story behind the food itself. Dennis and Mai’s third generation story is perfect. A true Singapore food hero. Keeping our food heritage alive and well.
Soon Soon Huat is another heritage brand that we are proud to support on our food tours.
