One of the most popular sights on our food tours in Singapore are the hawkers who pull or stretch our local tea called “Teh Tarek”. Teh Tarek literally translates into pulled tea. It’s a very popular drink here in Singapore. At any time of the day you will see locals enjoying a cup. Despite the warm temperatures in Singapore we still love our tea.

Hers’ our friend Syaiful who is an expert at pulling tea. On our Artisan Experience he shows guests the trick to pulling the frothiest teh. We then all have a go, but it never ends as well as when the master himself does it.

The teh is pulled from the cup into a metal jug. The pour is repeated back and forth. We do this to cool the tea down and also creates the foamy, frothy top. To get this art form right requires years of practise. It’s an art form to watch and great for those instaworthy shots on tour.
