We always enjoy a food tour in the Tiong Bahru area of Singapore. There is something unique about the place. The architecture of the first HDB estate and the closeness of great food spots. And of course the friendliness of the locals. We’ve been coming here on the food tours since 2016. In particular our private tours. One of our guides favourite spots to enjoy a coffee and a sweet treat is Drips.
Drips is co-owned by Alfred Chan. Alfred used to be a patisserie chef at the Shangri La hotel no less. He has bought his talent to the streets of Tiong Bahru and it’s clear from the queues that he is a popular choice. The front of the shop is recognisable by the huge window sign saying “We specialise in Tarts.” And that they do.
What to eat at Drips.
Our guide Jane says that the chocolate truffle tart is one of the best things to eat in Tiong Bahru. She is also a fan of their cinnamon blackberry tart. As well as sweet offerings they also sell savoury pies and of course great coffee. Singapore has a lot of these type of bakeries and cafes. The competition is fierce. Drips is always mentioned in people’s lists of go to bakeries.
Of course the shop is closed at the moment but they are still doing deliveries. Go to www.drips.com.sg and place your order.
