This has to be one of the most asked questions we get as tour operators in Singapore. And for good reason. After all, who doesn’t want to swim here? But first here’s an interesting anecdote about the swimming pool of Marina Bay Sands.
The land that MBS stands on is reclaimed land. Singapore is very good at reclaiming land. In fact all around MBS is reclaimed. The new financial centre, the Esplanade, ECP highway. Everything is reclaimed land. This is one of the reasons why they have a swimming pool on the roof. If one of the 3 main towers begins to subside, the world’s biggest spirit level warns engineers.
Marina Bay Sands was opened in 2010 to great fanfare. The complex is a huge 2,561 room hotel and of course a casino. But this is not all. There are 2 large theatres, a museum, and dozens of celebrity chef restaurants. Guests and members of the public shop in the most luxurious boutiques. Tourists are always heading up to the skypark to enjoy the views.
Our Singabites tip is not to go to the skypark. Instead go to the bar at Spago. The entry is free and for the price you would pay to enter the skypark you can have a drink. Spago is on the rooftop so you have the same views but with the added comfort and drink.
So now the answer. Can you swim in the pool at Marina Bay Sands? Well, you need to be a resident for that. Don’t even think about trying to enter without your room key. They have a turnstile entry system and they have security on hand 24/7. Sorry.
