One of the best places to eat in Singapore is Golden Mile. Singapore has a lot of hidden secrets. When it comes to eating sometimes you really need local knowledge. Golden Mile is such a place.
Hidden inside an ugly 1970’s building on Beach road, Golden Mile is Singapore’s mini Thailand.
So if you are looking for some serious Thai food, this is the place to go.
Golden Mile Bus Station
Outside the building you will notice that there’s a lot of coaches. This is also the place where you can catch a coach up to Malaysia. Outside there are many ticket booths where you can buy your ticket. Once you step inside Golden Mile is when you feel like you are in Thailand.
Singapore’s mini Thailand
There are dozens of Thai restaurants on the ground floor. The Thai Barbeque restaurant Mookata New Udon is a popular choice. You will often need to queue here at the weekend but the wait is worth it. Towards the back of the ground floor is a restaurant called Beer Thai House. This is one of the best Thai restaurants in Singapore.
Don’t be fooled. There is nothing fancy about Golden Mile. It is run down and old. The food however is fantastic. And compared to other parts of Singapore this will not hurt your wallet as much.
Another big draw for Golden Mile is the Thai supermarket. Located on the second floor this supermarket is one of the best in Singapore. You can buy a lot of things here that you can’t find elsewhere. Most of the produce has been shipped over from Thailand or Vietnam. As you can imagine, during the weekend it gets very busy here.
Golden Mile is obviously popular with Singapore’s Thai community. It is also extremely popular with locals and residents who just love Thai food. If you have a Thai craving then this is one of the best places to eat in Singapore.
