Carrying on with our series what are the best things to do in Singapore?
Many of our food tour guests are looking for that authentic, live like a local experience. One way that you can easily see how we live here in Singapore is to take a walk along the Park Connector.

What is the Singapore Park Connector?

The Singapore Park Connector is a series of paved walk and bike paths. They connect across Singapore. There are over 300km worth of paths. Often they are away from the roads and provide a safe and relaxing environment for walkers. Cyclists, skaters and dog walkers also use them. A lot of people actually commute to work on bikes along the connector. If you’re looking to exercise this is one of the best things to do in Singapore.

Where does the Singapore Park Connector go?

The first park connector was created in 1995. This is around the Kallang river basin, near to the national stadium. There are now 5 major loops that take in every part of the island. The Eastern Coastal Loop is popular as it runs along the shoreline. A lot of people come here to exercise, relax and even eat at the weekends. The Southern Ridges loop is definitely recommended. There are some spectacular views from the high bridges. The Northern Explorer loop is also worth visiting. Here you will see a lot of wildlife, including wild crocodiles.

How you can enjoy the park connector.

If you’re staying in downtown Singapore then the Park Connector is a great way to dive into Singapore’s countryside. The Central Urban Loop will allow you to follow the Singapore river. The Eastern Coastal loop will take you out of the city and towards Changi. You will always be near to a Park Connector. Just ask a local where the nearest one is. They are well sign posted and easy to follow maps are everywhere.
