The world is in a strange place at the moment. In Singapore we have been on lockdown since 7th April, a lot later than some countries. We can still order take out and delivery from most of the hawkers and shops that we visit on the food tours. We are blogging about our vendors and encouraging those who can to buy from them. Together we can all get through this and come out stronger.
If you have a spare few minutes this is how you can help not just Singabites but other small, independent tour operators like us. Now and in the future.
1. Review us on Tripadvisor
We know that for many of you, writing a review whilst on your holiday is a chore. We get that. We send out an email after the tour asking for reviews as it really helps us get more customers. 2. Review us on other platforms
Whilst we know that Tripadvisor is still the number one review platform we are trying to use other platforms so we aren’t reliant on them so much. (more about this in point 3). It would help us a lot if you could review us on;

3. Book Direct.
Did you know that Tripadvisor takes at least 20% from tour operators when you book via their platform. Recent measures have even seen them increase our pricing on their platform as well. Tripadvisor is no longer an independent review platform. They are an online travel agency. The tours that they sell the most will always go to the top of the listings no matter the quality of service.
By booking direct you are supporting us and other small operators a great deal.
By booking direct we can also communicate much easier with you. If you need to request special dietary requirements you can call or email us. Often when people book via an online travel agency such as Tripadvisor these messages get lost.

5. Support your local business
We know that for most of you Singapore is a long long way away at the moment. But you can help the global food tourism business by simply buying from your local vendor. These guys need all our support and a small purchase can make all the difference over time. Walmart, Tesco, Coles and the like will get through this. Your local butcher, baker, independent coffee shop and small food business may not.
It has been such a pleasure to be able to introduce so many of you to Singapore’s amazing food scene over the past few years. We will be here when this is all over. Ready, once again to introduce the world to the real food of Singapore.
