The Singapore staycation tour. Exploring behind the scenes of Little India

Singapore tours are now open for business. It has been a rough year for the tourism industry around the world. Singapore has suffered like everyone else. Tourism contributed to about 4% of GDP in 2019 so the government here is keen to get Singapore tours up and running again.
At the moment Singapore isn’t welcoming any tourists from overseas. The Singapore Tourist Board have launched a campaign to encourage Singaporeans and expats living here to explore their own country. At Singabites we have welcomed back our first guests on our food tours. We have worked closely with the STB to make sure everything is safe for our tour guests and guides.

So what’s it like doing Singapore tours today?

The first thing you’ll notice is that the group sizes are small. Only 5 people plus the guide are allowed at the moment. This is ok for Singabites as we only run small group tours anyway. We have decided to offer special group prices for private tours. If you would like to have a private tour with just your family for example, you can book our private family ticket and enjoy a private tour. Private tours are also available for groups of upto 5 friends. For the price of 4.

We do of course need to wear masks except when we are eating and drinking. We also follow the safe check in points located throughout the tour.

Another thing that is new to us at Singabites is that all of our tours are now conducted using a guide audio system. This allows us to keep socially distanced throughout the tour. Every guest can clearly hear what’s going on and so far it’s worked well.

What Singapore Food Tours are we running?

We have developed two different food tours for re-opening.
Firstly we have our Staycation Little India food tour. Here we explore Little India for 2 hours over lunch. We sample 5 different tastings and go behind the scenes at some really cool places. Each tout guest will leave with a little food themed gift.

We have also re-launched our Street Eats at Sunset food tour. Here we explore the Amazing food neighbourhood of Katong. This has always been one of our most popular food tours. We have changed it slightly to appeal to people who live in Singapore. We are aware that many people may know the area’s that we are exploring so we want to add a few more hidden gems and stories.
