Changi village at the weekend.

One of the places we always recommend people visit in Singapore is Changi village.

Changi is more well known for being the site of our world famous airport. But it is a lot more than that. Changi village has a fascinating past. It is where the famous Changi prison of world war 2 was. There is a very good museum which is a must visit for those interested in the second world war period. Changi is also the village where you can get a bumboat to neighbouring islands.

One island that we recommend visiting is Pulau Ubin. Pulau is the old Malay word for island. Pulau Ubin is a lovely, untouched island. You can hire bikes or kayaks and explore at your own pace. The island is also famous for its seafood. Many Singaporeans will head over to the island and have a long lunch of their favourite seafood. Chilli crab, steamed grouper, drunken prawns…… Delicious.

Time for a real Singaporean beer.

One of our favourite things to do when we’re over in Changi is to have a cold beer. And where better than one of Singapore’s best breweries. Little Island Brewery.

Some of the Little Island Breweries tanks.

When you get off the Pulau Ubin ferry look left and the brewery is there. They have a great selection of IPA, Golden, Lagers and some great cider. At the weekend they have live music. The food is always good, one of the best Sunday roasts on the island. So go and check it out if you’ve got the time.
